Response to Metaphor on Visions
As a logical person, this reading brought a new perspective to art than what I have initially perceived. The reading sparked my questioning on a previous point that I have heard regularly, which states that "Beauty is within the eye of the beholder." The text explains how there is a logical view on art that has been overlooked by predetermine perceptions and tastes of art. The question then arises on whether or not art can be objective. Brakhage explains how art's objectivity will remain a facade due to the sense of preference or taste that we have grown within ourselves as individuals.
